Golfing For MMA Athlete
Local amateur MMA fighter Rory Sykes was recently seriously injured during one of his training sessions in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Witnesses that were on the scene claim that he was dropped directly on his head and neck during a take-down. Rory was rendered unconscious immediately, and remained unconscious for at least four minutes after his initial impact with the ground. It was apparent from the position of his head, that he had damaged some of the bones in his neck. The ambulance was called immediately. After returning to consciousness, Rory reported a loss of sensation in his arms and was taken to the hospital with a moderate concussion.
It turns out the Rory had a broken neck, and was placed under serious care. Unfortunately, Rory did not have sufficient enough health insurance to cover the damages. The local MMA studio, which wished to remain anonymous, has decided to help Rory pay for his injuries by throwing a fund raising event on a golf course. The MMA studio reached out to several courses, and Sandia Golf Club stepped up to the plate to help their local community. Sandia Golf Club will donate 15% of all sales on the 21st of November to the family of Rory Sykes, in order to pay for his treatment. If you live in Albuquerque or the surrounding area, please head over to Sandia golf course and practice to drive the ball over fairways and shallow the golf swing through sand bunkers, for a great cause!
Sandia Golf Club is known for their meticulously maintained course. It boasts rolling hills directly next to clean blue water, all of which sits on the footstep of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. Their facilities are immaculate, and there isn’t a better place in Albuquerque to hold such a meaningful fundraising event. If you’ve never been to this golf course, or if you’ve never played golf before, don’t hesitate to stop by. Sandia has a fantastic kitchen and bar. Their staff is the epitome of professional. They make it their duty to ensure that each guest is enjoying their stay.
Again, 15% of all proceeds from the entire day go to helping Rory. That means whether you only stop in for a quick meal throughout the day, or if you play 18 holes from open to close, 15% of all money spent will be going to helping a local Albuquerque athlete and his family recover from this terrible accident.
